And the orator said, Speak to us of Freedom,

And he answered;
At the city gate and by your fireside I have seen you prostrate yourself and worship your own freedom,
Even as slaves humble themselves before a tyrant and praise him though he slays them.
Ay, in the grove of the temple and in the shadow of the citadel I have seen the freest among you wear freedom as a yoke and a handcuff.
And my heart bled within me; for you can only be free when even the desire of seeking freedom becomes a harness to you, and when you cease to speak of freedom as a goal and a fulfillment.
You shall be free indeed when your days are not without a care and your nights without want and grief,
But when these thing girdle your life and yet you rise above them naked and unbound.
And how shall you rise beyond your days and nights unless you break the chains which you at the dawn of your understanding have fastened around the noon hour?
In truth, that which you call freedom is the strongest of these chains, though its links glitter in the sun and dazzled your eyes.
And what is it but fragments of your own self you would discard so that you may become free?
If it is an unjust law you would abolish, that law was written with your own hand upon your own forehead.
You cannot erase it by burning your own law books nor by washing the foreheads of your judges, though you pour sea upon them.
And if it was a despot you would dethrone, see first that his throne that was erected within you was destroyed.
For how can a tyrant rule the free and the proud, but for the tyranny in their own freedom and the shame in their own pride?
And if it is a care you would cast off, that care has been chosen by you rather than imposed upon you.
And if it is a fear you would dispel, the seat of that fear is in your own heart and not at the hand of the feared.
Verily all thing move within your being in constant half embrace, the desired and the dreaded, the repugnant and the cherished, the pursued and that which you would escape.
These thing move within you as lights and shadows that cling.
And when the shadow fades and is no more, the light that lingers becomes a shadow to another light.
And thus your freedom when it loses its fetters becomes itself the fetter of a greater freedom. Kahlil Gibran

Wake up family!  I’d like to thank my long time friend SeaPrayer for posting this video link.

A child of the 60's I often feel out of place in the world as it exist today. Too much excess, too much materialism, too few people who genuinely care or give a damn. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  1. hmmmmm….."Freedom" mmmm, mmmm, mmmm…often used yet not truly understood.
The shackles are off the feet but still bound the mind. The lactification of consciousness reigns supreme.

  2. And that’s the truth Fabulicious, that’s the truth.
    Peace and thanks for visiting,

  3. This is also in The Book of Revelations. May God Bless you and Hotep.

  4. Paulgoodness,
Isn’t it strange how those that profess to be the most righteous seem to be the least godly.  Opps my bad,  I forgot there’s something out that in Revelations too.

  5. It’s as if Gibran looked into the future and wrote this piece specifically for the video presented.  I have always maintained the idea that if a government wants control, all it has to do is to strike fear into the hearts of its citizens, and they will beg to have their freedoms taken away in the guise of protection.  9/11 was the best example that could possibly be given.  People do not realize that we are being asked to forgo our freedom in order to be safe.  I say that we keep what "freedom" we have and force the government to simply do its job.  Nice post.  I’ve seen this video several times around the net, most recently at Iris’s Place, but each time, its impact get’s greater.  Peace.

  6. My thoughts exactly blackstarr.  Fear and the ‘big lie" will get the "vulgar" every time.  (From As Miles Sees It – Machiavelli Never Lied)

I am glad that the video is making people think. I get the feeling that some are offended by it (on my blog) but I know that it is hard for the heart to see we are possibly being led on just so the government can strike. It was written in the book of life, but yet people still question things that are right in front of their faces. It is easier to be in denial at times, I suppose. The government is the beast that the Bible talks of in the book of Revelation. It seems so "in your face" when you stop to really think about it.
       God Bless,

  8. Choc – Put fear into the hearts of citizens, and they’ll beg for restrictions!  It’s been here with "part 15", electronic devices, and every aspect of our lives.  They already have everything needed to eavesdrop, this is just an extension.  Did you see how small that chip really is?  One can put that beneath skin when you have your checkups, in your dentures at a dentist’s visit – anywhere.  Peace.

Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn. ~ Charlie Parker
You may have holes in your shoes, but don’t let the people out front know it. Shine the tops. ~ Earl "Fatha" Hines
As it is in music, let it be so in your life.  Keep on dancing the beautiful dance of life until you play the final note!

  10. Outstanding word of wisdom Sister Cat,
Thanks for stopping by – peace and love,

  11. Damn Family – I don’t know what happened to the video!  I only know I didn’t delete it from my space.
Big Brother ya’ Think?  Nah, could be right.  Maybe it was that "revolutionary" talk Brother Chocolate laid on us.
Peace and looking over my shoulder – AGAIN!!!!!
