Daybreak

every day
i find a new life
my love for freedom,
our right
to wear robes
as we please,
never sets.
black voices
dance in my soul
like anxious sparkles.
every black man
is an epic,
sung
in the soft keys
of survival.
o i want,
i want
to hear
be near
all of my brothers
when i die.
every blackman is an epic
sung in the soft keys
of survival
longing to be near
all of his brothers
when they die

Wishing you a safe and
pleasant week ahead
Peace Ten

A child of the 60's I often feel out of place in the world as it exist today. Too much excess, too much materialism, too few people who genuinely care or give a damn. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  1. That is a powerful poem and a most beautiful verse you’ve chosen. Thanks for sharing. I may never understand the struggle. Though I have seen the poetry in the black man’s eyes it reads much like the painful lines of any of God’s downtrodden children. Who is the oppressor? Sin has many colors.

Thank you for visiting my neighborhood and for you kind words. The fact that you are sensitive to the "poetry" that can be seen in a balck man’s eyes says a lot because so often we take it for granted or miss it’s significance all together. Yes, indeed, sin had may colors. Peace, Ten
